Chester County Wedding Florist: Nature Inspired Editorial Shoot

Having you ever dreamed of frolicking in a field of flowers?!  If so, you’re going to love this editorial shoot!  The picturesque venue was the fields of The Farm at Oxford in Lincoln University, Pennsylvania.  Mara, the owner of The Farm at Oxford, grew all of the flowers and greens used in this photo shoot.  I love being able to work with Mara to use locally grown flowers and greens in my floral designs!  Being to get unique varieties of flowers is an added bonus to buying from a local flower farmer.

Kylene of Leave It To Me Photography is the talented woman behind the lens for this editorial shoot.  She is amazing at being able to capture the perfect light in a picture!  Jen of Jen’s Hair Creations used her skill with hair and make-up to enhance Sarah’s beauty.  Our gorgeous model Sarah is one of the ladies from Jennifer’s Bridal, who provided the dress and jewelry.  Can you believe that Sarah’s boyfriend proposed to her shortly after this shoot?!  Congratulations Sarah on your engagement!  We all know that you will be a beautiful bride!

My inspiration for this editorial shoot came from a girlhood dream of wandering through a meadow of flowers.  My grandparents used to live on a large property.  When I was younger, I loved to venture through the woods to the meadow that was on the other side.  If you haven’t figured out already, my obsession with flowers started at an early age!

I wanted the style of this shoot to look as if Sarah was walking through this field gathering flowers.  I used a variety of greens and white flowers to create this bridal bouquet, floral crown, cake, and candelabra centerpiece.  I chose to use white to accent the stunning gown by Jim Hjelm designed by Hayley Paige.  This is the gown for you if you want to stand out!  It is a classic style but with a punch of spunk!  To add a small pop of color, we added these fun earrings and bracelet from Haute Bride.

Delaware Wedding Florist: Jennifer & Dan at Harry’s Savoy

I loved working with Jennifer and Dan for their wedding!  It was like a mini high school reunion.  Jennifer and I went to high school together along with her photographer, Brownlee Honeycutt of Honeycutt Photography, and her DJ, Mike Simmons of Must Be The Music DJs.  Their wedding took place at the beautiful Harry’s Savoy Ballroom in Wilmington, Delaware.

Jennifer and Dan decided to get married on the Saturday of Thanksgiving weekend.  I thought it was a brilliant idea since all of their family and friends would be in town for the holiday.  Plus, all of the dancing would help burn some the calories from eating so much turkey!

Their weddings colors were plum and white. The plum added a richness and regal feel to the wedding.  I adore the orchids, roses, hydrangea, freesia, lisianthius, and stock used to create the gorgeous round bouquets.  For an added touch, we trailed Picasso calla lilies through Jennifer’s bouquet.

For Jennifer’s something old, she tasked me with the “nerve-racking” job of cutting lace from her mother’s wedding veil to wrap around the base of her bridal bouquet.  I can’t remember how much reassurance I needed before I cut into her mother’s veil. Ugh.  However, I absolutely love bringing a special and sentimental touch to a wedding.

Congratulations Jennifer and Dan!  I am so happy for the two of you!  I loved being a part of your special day!  I wish you a lifetime of happiness together.

Delaware Wedding Florist: Masquerade Inspired Editorial Shoot

The idea of a masquerade inspired editorial photo shoot has been in my head for some time now.  One day while I was having lunch with Kylene Cleaver of Leave It to Me Photography, I told her about my vision.  She became giddy with joy and told me that she would love to capture my idea in film.  From there, everything just fell in place for this editorial shoot.

Let me start with how this crazy (or as Kylene calls it “genius”) idea came to be in my head.  First, I must admit to my guilty pleasure of reading historical romance novels.  Yup, I love them!  In the majority of the novels, there always seems to be a masquerade ball where everyone gets dressed up and wears a mask.  It adds a sense of mystery, intrigue, and romance!  This was where my inspiration began.  I wanted to find a way to keep those feelings while using flowers and greens to create a bridal masquerade look.

To go along with my vision, we selected the “Vivian” gown by Matthew Christopher from Jennifer’s Bridal.  Can I just tell you how stunning this dress was?!  All of the seams had tiny little pearls!  It had the simplest yet regal style that I wanted for this shoot.  Adding an extra touch of glam, we also borrowed these gorgeous earrings and bracelet by Haute Bride from Jennifer’s Bridal.

When deciding on a color palette, I decided that I wanted to use marsala, which is the Pantone color of the year, and some pinks and blushes with a touch of gold.  Pantone describes marsala as a “naturally robust and earthy wine red.”  I consider it a burgundy or dark red/fuschia.  This kept with the richness and depth that I wanted to portray in the photos.  I added burgundy feathers and rose gold wire for different textures and to add some whimsy.

Personally, I love a cascading bouquet…. so that is the style that I went with for this shoot.  It definitely added drama, and it was perfect with this incredible bridal gown!  To top everything off, the mask enhanced the mystery of the look.

Jen Terrell of Jen’s Hair Creations did a breathtaking job on Kathleen’s hair and makeup!  We also could not have asked for a more ideal location than the Buena Vista Mansion!  The mansion and grounds are fabulous!

I hope that you enjoyed all of the gorgeousness captured by Kylene Cleaver of Leave It to Me Photography!  It was amazing to see something in my head come to life!  I hope that these pictures inspire you for your wedding.  Contact me today to schedule your floral consultation.

One of my favorite things about Spring is that my garden begins to bloom.  All of the flowers and greens are from my personal garden.  Who doesn’t love clematis, columbine, hosta, and ninebark?!  I think that you can tell that I’m still obsessed with floral fascinators and floral jewelry.

Pennsylvania Wedding Florist: Tara Keely Trunk Show at Jennifer’s Bridal

Can I tell you how much I love springtime?!  Flowers are finally in full bloom.  It just makes me so happy.  One of my favorite things is working with locally grown flowers and greens, especially from my own garden when I can.

Have you ever thought about using only locally grown flowers and greens for your wedding?  Buying local is a big trend right now, and one that I support.  The flowers and greens from these arrangements came from The Farm at Oxford which is a flower farm in Lincoln University, Pennsylvania.  I love working with Mara and all of the beauties that she grows!

Tulips, azaleas, daffodils, wisteria, and a mix of greens were used to create these light and airy centerpieces.  I even mixed in some hosta leaves, boxwood, and vinca greens from my own garden!
